As the community investment arm of Prudential in Asia and Africa, Prudence Foundation leverages Prudential's long-term approach and geographical scale to make communities safer, more secure and resilient by addressing key issues in education, health and safety. Prudence Foundation partnered with Two Moos/DEPTĀ® in Melbourne and EDC (Education Development Center) in New York to create Cha-Ching Money Adventures.
The multi-chapter, educational game is part of a 360 degree platform extending the fun and learning of Cha-Ching. Targeted at children aged 8-10 with initial launch scheduled in eight countries across South Asia and Africa, the game teaches critical 21st century skills by building positive behaviours on money management for sound financial decisions in the future.
Over two-thirds of the global population are financially illiterate. Global studies demonstrate that children develop the foundation for financial behaviours by seven years old. However, current education systems are not teaching financial literacy. This is especially critical in Asia and Africa where there is an emerging middle class and more people need to navigate their new financial futures, and where by 2050, 80% of the world's children will be living.
Cha-Ching Money Adventures features six lively friends who have formed a band and need to find ways to earn money to go on tour. Through fun narrative and sticky gameplay, we help children learn about the fundamental money management concepts of Earn, Save, Spend and Donate. Cha-Ching was originally developed as a series of video shorts in consultation with Emmy award-winning education psychologist Dr. Alice Wilder, targeting children aged 7 to 12 years old with focus across Asia and Africa. To distribute, Prudence Foundation partnered with Cartoon Network Asia, with the videos reaching 35 million households each day in 2021.
The mission behind the game, Cha-Ching Money Adventures, was to create an engaging interactive experience. It is a structured, teacher-led programme that consists of six modular sessions, including discussion, activities and hands-on learning that allows students to put fundamental money management skills into practice.Ā
Available across desktop and mobile, Cha-Ching Money Adventures offers six adaptive learning modules, each created as an āinteractive episodeā containing a story-driven interaction focusing in on targeted learning goals. The play experience is wrapped up around an engaging, overarching narrative around the character and their band. Each moduleās story arc takes place over the course of a week, culminating in a concert on Saturday night.
Additionally all modules provide parental tips and assessment feedback that will provide opportunities to take the learning further with their child offline.

Cha-Ching Money Adventures Game is built around several elements that respond to children's learning needs, including a series of music videos, online resources and at-home activities for teachers and parents as well as an online presence that engage children in real-life money management scenarios to reinforce the learnings derived.
In early 2022, the game was evaluated by the Education Development Center (global non-profit in education and healthcare)Ā in the Philippines, to determine its effectiveness. The research study showed that for 8- 9 year olds, the game is effective in improving their financial literacy and helps catalyze parent-child conversations about money.Ā
Cha-Ching Money Adventures recently soft-launched in the Philippines and received some great data on the game from kids who test played the game in Manila. More than 700 children and parents played the game, and the game received a rating of 4.87 stars out of 5!
